안식일에 예수께서 밀밭 사이로 지나가실새 

그 제자들이 길을 열며 이삭을 자르니 

바리새인들이 예수께 말하되 

보시오 저희가 어찌하여 안식일에 하지 못할 일을 하나이까

One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, 

and as his disciples walked along, 

they began to pick some heads of grain. 

The Pharisees said to him, 

“Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?”

밀밭 사이로 예수님과 함께 걸어가는 모습을 상상해보자. 그것은 바로 예수님 제자의 삶의 모습을 보여준다. 

예수님의 제자는 어떠한 대가를 치르던 간에 예수님의 발자취를 따라 걷고 싶어 한다. 하지만 지금 이 순간에도 세계 곳곳에서 주님의 길을 걷는다는 이유로 박해를 받는 사람들이 있다. 법을 어긴 것도 아닌데 그들을 “범법자”로 몰아 부친다. 엄밀히 말하면 그들은 진리를 전한 것뿐인데도 말이다. 

과연 나도 어떠한 희생을 치르더라도 주님과 함께 동행할 준비가 되어있을지, 스스로에게 질문을 해본다.

It pictures the life of a disciple. A follower of Jesus is on the move.

A disciple seeks to walk in his footsteps regardless of the price he or she has to pay. In many parts of the world today a follower is persecuted because of following the ways of Jesus. Often the voice of the accuser cries out “unlawful” when no law has been broken. Instead the truth has been spoken.

I ask myself the question. Am I prepared to walk with Jesus whatever the price?
