“My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death.
Stay here and keep watch with me.”
Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed,
“My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me.
Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping.
“Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?”
he asked Peter. Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.
The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”

나는 지난 나흘 동안 원주의 가나안 농군 학교에 머물렀다. 우리는 그 곳 창시자인 김용기 장로님께서 매일 네 시간씩 기도를 했던 개인 기도원에서 기도를 했다. 하나님은 장로님을 통해 70만 명이 헌신된 삶을 살고 예수의 가치를 소명으로 생각하며 헌신과 희생의 삶을 살도록 훈련케 했다.

이번 주에는 "세계를 더 좋고 아름다운 곳으로 만들기 위해" 강한 의지로 뭉친 포스코 직원들이 이 곳을 방문했다. 정신적 그리고 육체적으로 강한 의지 및 실천 의지를 갖고 있는 장로님의 기도는 포스코와 같은 회사에도 큰 영향을 끼쳤을 뿐만 아니라 황무지를 비옥한 땅으로 그리고 게으른 가족을 열정 있는 가족으로 변모 시켰다.

새벽 4시 30분에 기상해 포스코 직원들과 함께 새벽기도를 드리고 아침 운동을 하고 같이 나누고 보니 그 날 받은 말씀이 더욱 의미 깊게 다가왔다. 마음은 의지가 있으나 육신은 참 연약한 것 같다.

우리가 예수님의 제자로써 소명 받은 바에 따라 희생 및 헌신하고자 하는 강한 의지뿐만 아니라 육체적으로도 강건하다면 그 시너지 효과는 실로 엄청날 것이다.

나의 주인이 되는 주님, 오늘 내가 강한 의지로 주님의 발자취를 따르기 소망하며 주님의 소명을 받들어 희생과 사랑 그리고 온전함으로 살기를 원합니다.

For the last four days I have been living at the Canaan Farmers School in Wongju, S Korear. During these days we went to a prayer house for one person where the founder Kim, Young Ki would pray four hours each day. His life has been used by God to train about 700,000 people to live committed lives to God and to embrace the values of Jesus to labor in vocation, service our fellow man and sacrifice.
The group here this week is from POSCO, a steel committed that is committed to “transf_o_r_ming the world into a better and more beautiful place.” The prayers of Kim Young Kim whose spirit was willing and whose body was committed to follow the Spirit, has been instrumental not only to influence companies like POSCO but has resulted in transf_o_r_ming wasteland to fertile land, lazy families to fervent families.
Getting up at 4 30 am and joining the POSCO group in early morning prayer and physical exercise and declarations to God and to the heavens as the dawn is breaking has made this word of Jesus all the more meaningful. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.
What an impact can come when we not only have a willing spirit but give our bodies to the purposes of our Master as His disciples to work in our vocation, serve our fellow man and sacrifice for God.
Lord Jesus, Master, for this day my spirit is willing and wanting to follow in your footsteps and embrace your example of labour, love and living out in fullness the Calling of the Father.
